Mary & Frank Yturria Elementary

Yturria Elementary is located in Brownsville, Texas. It is named after businessman Frank Yturria and his wife Mary, a local philanthropist. Located in the northwest section of Brownsville, this school opened in 1992. Longtime Brownsville residents, the Yturria Family has roots in the community, ranching, banking, and business, dating back to the 1800’s. "This is a day to remember for us," Mary Yturria said. "It's a great honor to have a school named after Frank and me, and Brownsville should be proud to have such a school like this one." Alma G. Garcia was the school’s first principal.
